National University of Singapore (NUS)

The National University of Singapore is the highest-ranked computer science department in Asia, placed joint fourth in the world in the QS 2026 subject rankings, level with the University of Oxford and behind only a handful of American universities. Founded in 1905, it has grown into one of the strongest research universities anywhere, and computing is one of its flagship areas.

Its School of Computing is large and broad, with well-regarded work in artificial intelligence, systems, security, databases and human-computer interaction. Singapore’s position as a technology and finance hub gives the school close ties to industry and a steady flow of graduates into both research and the regional technology sector.

For students, NUS offers world-class computer science in English at the heart of Asia, and it has become an increasingly popular destination for international applicants as its ranking has climbed.

Admissions

Computer science is among the hardest programmes at NUS to get into. Its published Indicative Grade Profile for AY2025/2026 sits at AAA/A at both the 10th and 90th percentiles, meaning virtually every admitted Singapore-Cambridge A-level applicant held three A grades at H2 alongside an A in the H1 subject. One thing to watch: NUS is moving to a revised University Admission Score from AY2026/2027, so a fresh grade profile for that intake had not yet been published when this page was last reviewed.
